Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, left, waits as Gov. Mark Dayton, center, using crutches while recovering from hip surgery, makes his way to the podium out of his private office during a news conference at the Capitol, March 20. The DFL leaders criticized Senate Republicans for refusing to permit the prompt consideration of the Senate tax bill which would have cut personal income and business taxes along with making other important reforms. Revenue Commissioner Myron Frans followed Gov. Dayton out of his office as Matt Swenson, Dayton's Communication Director holds the door.

On the first day of 2014 legislative session, with the first phase of the Capitol's restoration underway, trying to find your way around in the basement tunnels became a directional puzzle. Starting from the bottom up and getting done a floor at a time for the next four years, it will be a challenge getting around the building during the restoration.
