"When I feel the urge to work, I lie down until the urge passes. It happens on a nice day like today," says 86-year-old Lloyd DeWalt of St. Paul, who dozed on his 16-foot aluminum boat in the Mississippi River at Hidden Falls Regional Park in St. Paul. "I came down to burn the last of the gas out of my carburetor, and, well, the sun's shining and there's no wind. There you go," said DeWalt, who will leave for his winter home in southern Texas in early October. With less than a week to go before summer is over, "we might get something nasty next week, you never know."
